Provence Verte

The Sainte-Baume National Park
Between the Var and the Bouches-du-Rhône, the Sainte-Baume massif culminates at more than a thousand meters, at the signal of the Béguines. The Natural Park offers an incredible playground for lovers of nature activities: hiking, cycling, horse riding, climbing… This natural site is home to exceptional flora and fauna, including a relic forest made up of a beech grove. Saint-Maximin is home to a monumental basilica. The town also stands out as a tourist attraction. During your walks in the Park, you will sometimes come across dry-stone constructions that are mostly buried. These coolers were used to produce ice in winter for the wealthy inhabitants of the large Provençal cities.
