Located in the department of Var, the village of Tourrettes seduces by its authentic charm. All around ? The picturesque landscapes of the country of Fayence.

Set among the hills of the Var, the village of Tourrettes has many narrow streets and beautiful old houses. You can admire many monuments: the Château du Puy, the Tour de l’Horloge (clock tower), old houses and numerous frescoes painted on facades, doors and shutters. There are also many treasures to discover on a day trip: churches, chapels, old houses, wash houses, castles…

In Tourrettes, various nature activities await you. There are numerous hiking trails in the village: difference in altitude, length, you will find itineraries adapted to beginners as well as more experienced walkers. During your stay in the Pays de Fayence, you can also indulge in other activities. For example, would you like to take a climbing course? Would you like to take advantage of your vacation to try your hand at tree climbing? Tourrettes is also close to the Saint-Cassien lake, a large lake ideal for swimming and water sports. There are plenty of activities within 10 kilometres of the village of Tourrettes.

The cuisine of the Pays de Fayence is also a tourist attraction in its own right. During your vacation you should definitely visit a local market. There you can meet the local producers and buy fruit and vegetables, honey, sweets and various other local specialties.

An open-air museum

The historic centre of this Provencal village, with its interlacing alleys, is a real open-air museum. The facades of the old houses, the wooden doors, the works of art bear witness to a village anchored in History and turned towards the future.

A visit to Tourrettes also allows you to admire the many monuments in this village in the Var :

  • The Puy castle was built by Alexandre Fabre, who took his inspiration from a Russian chateau in 1830.
  • The Clock Tower still tells the time to the locals… and tourists!

A cultural break in the Pays de Fayence

The museums of the Pays de Fayence offer some great discoveries for a cultural holiday in the Var.

The Espace Manfredo Borsi in Montauroux owes its name to a 20th-century artist renowned for his watercolours and drawings. The exhibition space that bears his name hosts a number of exhibitions.

Interested in aviation? Enthusiasts showcase vintage gliders in the Pays de Fayence Musée Volant (flying museum).

Old rural heritage is sometimes transformed into a cultural venue. In Mons, for example, the old bread oven now hosts exhibitions.

Arts and crafts take pride of place at the Musée d’Art et d’Essais in Tourrettes.

At the Maison du Lac in Saint-Cassien, the Au Fil de l’Eau discovery centre focuses on the history of the Pays de Fayence: geology, flora and fauna, waterways…
