The village of Lacoste is a true haven of peace. Activities close to nature are numerous. You can walk along the hiking trails of this preserved area of the Luberon. You will also have the opportunity to try out different activities in the Vaucluse department: first flight, climbing…

During your stay in Lacoste, you can discover the delicious gastronomy of Provence. Restaurants, local producers and markets let you sample goat’s cheeses, wines, honeys, charcuterie, fruit and many other specialties. The Lacoste market is held on Wednesday mornings from May to September only. All year round, Apt hosts one of the region’s biggest Saturday morning markets.

The hilltop villages of the Luberon all boast an ancient historical heritage. Old churches or chapels, listed houses, fountains, wash houses, abbeys… You can also discover a famous or more confidential local heritage.

Discovering the Luberon

The Luberon Regional Nature Park owes its popularity to its remarkable natural areas. Between fields, vineyards and wooded areas, valleys and hills, a wonderful playground opens up to you. During your hikes, you will be able to meet a rich fauna of 270 species of vertebrates. During your hikes, you can for example observe Bonelli’s eagle, a particularly rare species of bird of prey.

On the nature side, the Luberon can also be discovered by following the Green Way of Calavon. From Robion to Castellet, this 37-kilometre-long cycle route has taken over an old railway line. The Luberon is home to many classified villages, which you can easily discover from Lacoste.

The Luberon is home to a number of remarkable museums and tourist sites. In particular, you can visit :

  • The Musée d’Apt, dedicated to the economic history of the Luberon ;
  • The Fondation Blachère in Bonnieux, which exhibits works of African art;
  • Sénanque Abbey in Gordes, one of the most beautiful Cistercian abbeys in Provence;
  • The Lavender Museum in Cabrières d’Avignon;
  • Buoux Fort, a medieval fortress now in ruins;
  • OKHRA, an eco-museum in Roussillon devoted to ochre mining.
