Taym was 9 years old when he arrived in France with his parents, fleeing the violence in his home country. When he got here, French—everywhere, all the time, all around him—sounded like noise; it never made sense, just noise. So Taym took refuge in silence. Faced with the little boy’s silence, his father, mother, grandmother, classmates, and teachers each try, in their own way, to guide him on the path to a new language that would complement his old one, without replacing it. Conceived to be performed in a town hall, this play invites us to rediscover the magic in ordinary spaces and to let today’s stories resonate there.
