Description
Life in Roman times!
The "Arelate, Roman Days of Arles" festival draws its inspiration from this UNESCO World Heritage city, where the heritage of Rome is still intensely present and inseparable from daily life.
“Arelate, Roman Days in Arles” is a summer event that combines historical accuracy, the joy of discovery, and a friendly atmosphere, celebrating the city’s entire ancient heritage. The exceptional and varied program has been carefully designed for the general public, making the most of Arles’ potential and local resources.
Under the radiant August sun, the Romans take up their summer quarters in the “Little Rome of Gaul,” where the rhythmic footsteps of legionnaires, the clang of gladiators’ swords, and the cheers of jubilant spectators ring out. Tourists and Arles residents of all ages thus have the opportunity to travel back nearly two thousand years, to an era that captivates the imagination, as it seems both close to and far removed from our own.
Arelate also features an exceptional partnership with the Peplum Film Festival.
