Description
Nature and the relationship with landscape are two essential elements in Radouan Mriziga's work. In both his solo Atlas / the Mountain and his piece for six dancers
Magec / the Desert, he celebrates the culture of the Amazigh people...
Radouan Mriziga draws inspiration from the mythological tales of Amazigh culture to reveal the spiritual, artistic, artisanal, scientific and philosophical wealth of those who, in particular, maintain close ties with the Atlas mountains of North Africa. In his performance Atlas / the Mountain, he takes on the costume of a half-man, half-animal figure, horns on his head and bells on his wrists and ankles, and draws on traditions to expose his body thrown into a permanent spiral. Constantly evolving, as if in defiance of the mountain space, metaphysical symbol and link between heaven and earth. His choreography is abstract and enigmatic, hypnotic and haunting, with heady rhythms that invite us to join him on his journey. His journey of initiation becomes, through his embodied presence, our journey.
Performances in Marseille are supported by the Flemish authorities.
