The town of La Croix Valmer organises the Commemorative Ceremony of the Provence Landing.
- 9.00 am – Tribute on the D-Day beach
Arrival of the Cavalaire-sur-Mer SNSM by sea, symbolically representing the Provence landings.
Historical background: by midnight, 16,000 men had already landed on the beach.
Tribute paid by the children of La Croix-Valmer and the Cadets de la Nation: reading, singing, commemoration of the D-Day landings, laying of a wreath.
- “Let’s march, let’s march”
Departure on foot towards the Square du Souvenir. Commemorative march through the town, heading towards the Square du Souvenir
- “Liberation” – Ceremonies at the Square du Souvenir
Allies Memorial, First DFL Memorial
Official speeches, wreath-laying, attended by patriotic associations and representatives of veterans’ organisations.
- A Toast to Freedom
Following the ceremonies, a toast to freedom will be offered
