Synopsis:
Tehran, 1978: Eight-year-old Marjane dreams of the future. Cherished by her modern and cultured parents, and close to her grandmother, she eagerly follows the events that lead to the fall of the Shah's regime.
With the establishment of the Islamic Republic begins the era of the Revolutionary Guards, who control dress and behavior. Marjane, now required to wear the veil, dreams of becoming a revolutionary. Soon, the war against Iraq brings bombings and hardships. Internal repression grows harsher every day. Her outspokenness and rebellious views become problematic. Her parents decide to send her to Austria for her safety.
