Description
Polyphonic singing and percussion
Three female voices, each with its own distinct personality, perform a multifaceted musical piece on stage: at times delicate and moving, they can transport us into a trance-like state. The percussion added to these polyphonic and polyrhythmic arrangements brings a powerful, hypnotic energy that invites you to dance, before returning to the minimalism and purity of an ancestral song.
Drawing deeply from the folk repertoire of the Pyrenees—and more specifically from Béarn, Caroline Sasal’s homeland—Aàgut takes us all the way to Galicia, following the ridge that connects southern France to northern Spain. Caroline’s arrangements and original compositions, along with the subtle use of sound processing and electronic elements—all while respecting the acoustic integrity and a certain minimalism—add a contemporary dimension that infuses this repertoire with vibrant energy.
