"Scandinavian Mood" is a Nordic-sounding concert where the freedom of jazz meets the poetic melancholy of Danish jazz. With a repertoire that weaves together traditional Nordic songs and intimate jazz atmospheres, the Pernille Aidt Quintet pays vibrant tribute to the legendary double-bass virtuoso Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen (NHØP).
Nicknamed "the Viking", NHØP embodied the essence of Danish jazz with a unique technique; he managed to make his bass "sing".
The quintet will perform NHØP's original compositions as well as standards from his repertoire.
At the heart of this approach is singer Pernille Aidt, who reinvents these melodies by drawing on her cultural heritage and deep Scandinavian roots.
