The Ban des Vendanges des Côtes du Rhône is the Rhône Valley's main wine-growing, cultural and festive event, held on the last Saturday in August.
The Ban des Vendanges is back!
On Saturday, August 29, the Compagnons des Côtes du Rhône invite you to celebrate the winemaking tradition right in the heart of Avignon!
On the schedule:
5:00 p.m. – Parade of the wine brotherhoods in ceremonial attire, starting at Saint-Agricol Church and proceeding down Rue de la République
5:30 p.m. – Wine Mass and blessing of the harvest at Saint-Didier Church
6:00 PM – Masterclass with winemakers from Vaison-la-Romaine
6:30 PM – Opening of the gourmet market at Place du Palais des Papes
7:00 PM – Official proclamation of the Côtes du Rhône Harvest Festival, followed by the pressing of the new grapes on a traditional wine press.
8:30 p.m.: Harvest Ball, featuring the Bandits Manchots
A wonderful opportunity to celebrate the harvest in a friendly and festive atmosphere, featuring local traditions, gourmet treats, entertainment, and a concert. Young and old alike are invited to this convivial event at the foot of the Palais des Papes.
