E, pleading

This concert version, specially reworked for the occasion by our special guest for the 2026–27 season, features readings performed by acting students from the TPM Conservatory. The work tells the story of the exile of women forced to leave Africa—Egypt—to reach Europe, specifically Greece. They are fleeing violence, forced marriages, and violations of their freedom. Though an age-old tale, it resonates with searing urgency at a time when so many women—Ukrainian, Syrian, or from sub-Saharan Africa—are embarking on the path to exile. The musical form seems timeless, yet deeply contemporary: a new composition, driven by a modern theme and a reimagined text. An experimental choir, bringing together singers from vocal ensembles in Toulon, conducted by Dominique Dragacci-Libbra, choir director of the Kouer ensemble, the music department of Lycée Dumont d’Urville, and the theater department of the TPM Conservatory.
