Description
From February 28 to May 30, 2026, come and discover the temporary exhibition “Jean Arène: the soul of Provence” at the Museum of Art and Popular Traditions in Cassis.
The museum presents a retrospective of the works of Marseille artist Jean Arène, a French painter born on September 11, 1929, in Marseille and who died on March 20, 2020, in Cotignac.
"Jean Arène, a self-taught painter, captured the soul of Provençal landscapes, from golden hills to valleys bathed in light. A founding member of the Moins de Trente ans group, he broke free from academic norms to offer a personal vision imbued with the raw beauty of nature. The exhibition invites visitors to rediscover this unique artist through a selection of vibrant works that bear witness to his singular view of the countryside, light, and color."
