Description

The Prehistory Museum, located in La Bouverie, invites you to discover its new exhibition dedicated to Neanderthal populations through the emblematic archaeological sites of Provence.
The Heritage Department of the municipality of Roquebrune-sur-Argens presents an exhibition dedicated to Neanderthal populations, explored through the emblematic archaeological sites of Provence. Long portrayed as primitive and brutish, Neanderthals are now understood to have been resourceful humans, perfectly adapted to their environment, with advanced technical skills and a structured social life. This unique exhibition features exceptional loans from the Prehistoric Anthropology Museum of Monaco, the Prehistory Museum of the Verdon Gorges, and the Lazaret Cave, offering visitors an outstanding overview of the region’s prehistoric heritage. Archaeological objects, combined with detailed studies of their discovery contexts, help to illustrate the lives of these fascinating humans. Come and rediscover Neanderthals from a new perspective and appreciate the richness of our prehistoric heritage. A journey through time to enjoy with the whole family!
