Description
At the entrance to mass, the faithful can make a donation and in return receive a pin adorned with blue, pink or white ribbons and an effigy of the Virgin Mary. Donations are used to finance the preparations for the feast.
The hamlet of Vievola celebrates Our Lady of the Visitation:
- Rosary on the 4 evenings preceding the feast (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday) at 8:30 p.m.
- Sunday mass at 10:30am, followed by a procession
- Shared meal at 12pm
- Vespers at 3:30pm
Following mass, a procession sets off behind the statue of the Virgin Mary.
At the end of the procession, local councillors speak and an aperitif is offered to participants, to the sound of songs sung by a musical group.
In the afternoon, a rosary is recited in the chapel. Otherwise, musicians from Tende and Piedmont, on the other side of the Col de Tende, liven up the late afternoon with waltzes, courentes and balèts until dinner.
After dinner, there's a ball to round off the day.
