From Thursday to Sunday, the Festival Lumière des Alpilles takes you on a journey through the region and across the ages, centred on this year’s theme: justice.
More relevant than ever, this theme examines both institutions — judges, lawyers, investigations — and our more personal relationship with the law, fairness and injustice, in a context marked by the media coverage of trials and debates on discrimination. It is this dual dimension, institutional and moral, that the programme explores through works as diverse as they are powerful.
The programme takes place across several villages in the Alpilles — Fontvieille, Le Paradou, Maussane-les-Alpilles, Les Baux-de-Provence, Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, Arles — in cinemas and at open-air screenings, in iconic locations across the region.
Through a selection of works from the audiovisual heritage, more recent creations and exclusive screenings, the festival aims to bring different perspectives together and foster dialogue across the ages.
Each screening is designed as an opportunity for connection, with works often presented by the teams behind them. Talks featuring leading figures from the sector complement the screenings and open up discussion.
Family workshops, devised in collaboration with artists, round off the programme and offer an accessible and engaging approach to the festival’s themes.
Finally, several highlights punctuate the festival: an opening night, a family evening and special events, offering a different way to experience the festival.
