Description

The Fête du Sel returns to Salin-de-Giraud for a day of Camargue traditions, sharing and conviviality.
La fête du sel, organized by Camargo Souvajo, is an emblematic event celebrating the Camargue's unique identity and its close ties with salt, a veritable treasure of the region. Starting at 10am, visitors are invited to stroll around the local market set up near the arena, discovering local products and authentic know-how. The morning continues with a symbolic moment: the blessing of salt and horses at the chapel, followed by a traditional procession to the arena. The famous gardian games will then enliven this highlight, offering a lively and typically Camargue spectacle. At 1 p.m., it's time to indulge in a convivial local meal (reservation required), the perfect opportunity to share a warm moment around local flavors. The afternoon continues with music and dance, with a free show featuring Camargo Souvajo and the Lei Tambourinaire troupe from Sant Sumian. Traditional costumes, bewitching rhythms and folk dances will amaze young and old alike. A true immersion in the soul of the Camargue, the Fête du Sel is a must for all lovers of tradition, culture and authenticity.
