Description
Martigues Fishing Week takes place in mid-August. A national deep-sea fishing championship is held, followed by a fish weigh-in on the forecourt of the Town Hall.
One of the unmissable events of the summer in Martigues.
Every evening, the fishermen return to port and weigh their catch. The fisherman with the biggest fish at the end of the competition is the grand winner.
End the evening on the port with a convivial meal and live music.
The public is invited to gather at 5:30 pm on the Town Hall square for the arrival of the boats and the fish weighing.
Saturday, August 15: Half-day makeup event in case of bad weather.
Parade of the crews, closing ceremony, and awards presentation.
Dance evenings with dinner (€19) are offered over three days, from 8 pm to midnight, on the Martigues Town Hall square.
- Thursday, August 13: Mussels and fries and grilled sardines. Dance evening with The Blues Brother Tribute.
- Friday, August 14: Giant Tuna Feast. Dance party with the band Fahrenheit Live (80s music).
- Saturday, August 15: Paella. Dance party with Jesús de la Flamenca (Flamenco and Gypsy music).
The popularity of these evenings is well established, and the enthusiasm of locals and tourists alike during this period makes them eagerly anticipated.
