Description
In each of his creations, Marco da Silva Ferreira - a self-taught choreographer and former swimmer turned multi-style dancer - questions the place of dance in society as a genuine social movement.
Portuguese choreographer Marco da Silva Ferreira celebrates the freedom of the body with tenfold energy, leading his eight high-flying performers to an explosion of shared joy. First in the form of an almost martial parade, then in a display of hip-hop, techno and clubbing figures, transforming the arena into a veritable dancefloor.
In his iconoclastic F*cking Future, with its pop and rock accents, he parallels the military body with the militant body to offer a narrative of emancipation: "Can bodies escape the martial grip within a society in the process of militarization?" One by one, the protagonists enter the stage haloed by bluish lights to "skate" in purple socks on the mirror-slick floor. Metronomic beats, strobe lights... this is the start of a journey experienced collectively by a family of performers with an assertive mix, connected to each other and open to the world. A squadron in unlikely uniforms (bare backs in chain mail and blue vinyl pants for androgynous silhouettes) swaying in unison, between body combat and clubbing scenes, caresses and self-defense moves. Before a soft song takes them into a slow vertigo.
