Description
Salle Jean Despas welcomes Patrick Rougereau's "IMAGINAIRE" exhibition.
From culinary photography to sculpture, the artist recounts his passion for beauty and goodness through a series of disruptive works.
Awarded numerous prizes in France and abroad, he was recognized as "Artist of the Year" at the Chefs World Summit in Monaco in 2018 and was awarded the Gold Medal of the Académie Culinaire de France in 2019.
His book "REGARDE COMME C'EST BON!" won the prestigious Best Cookbook Awards in the World in 2017 and in 2020 with the "Best of the Best in the World" award, photography category.
Gastronomy is also a visual art. Patrick ROUGEREAU's work has contributed to the photographer's international reputation over the past 30 years.
Vibrations of the senses, creativity and emotion are the watchwords of this event.
After taking the "IMAGINAIRE" exhibition on the road between Paris, Megève and London, Patrick Rougereau, world-renowned culinary photographer and sculptor, is now exhibiting in Saint Tropez.
An atypical artistic career
Patrick Rougereau's works allow visitors to "dive into materials and textures", his favorite subjects.
The works on display reflect Patrick Rougereau's imaginary world, "his own world", where sea bream is adorned with feathers, mushrooms transform into solar eclipses and photographs come to life.
Through framing, the interplay of light and texture, the effects of shadow and transparency, he sublimates products, tells stories and confuses the senses.
He takes food photography out of its illustrative role, taking a fresh look. In "food culture", his images and sculptures disturb, astonish and hypnotize.
He is the artist behind the trophy for the "La Tropézienne" pastry competition, awarded to the winner at the "Saint-Tropez chefs celebrate producers" event on May 4, 5 and 6 at Place des Lices.
"Looking at reality, capturing its essence and plunging into an imaginary world to bring dreams to life".
Patrick Rougereau
