Description

The last 17th-century grain and pitane mill located on the banks of the Romanche River, equipped with a capstan for raising the millstones
Since 2017, the mill belongs to Villar d'Arène and is located on the Arsine road next to the river Romanche. It was used in the past to grind cereals. Indeed, inside you will be lucky enough to see millwheels, millstones, an old miller kitchen and tools. They closed it in 1950 and since then it has been restored by his passionate former owner, Mr Mathonnet Maurice, the mill comes with an incredible amount of tools and artefacts. A great visit to do with our local guide that will be also be able to show you the municipal oven.
