To celebrate European Heritage Days, the Arles Antique Departmental Museum is offering guided tours, family workshops, behind-the-scenes tours, and events centered on its collections and careers in the heritage sector.
To celebrate European Heritage Days, the Arles Antique Departmental Museum invites you to explore its collections, go behind the scenes, and learn about the professions involved in heritage conservation in a whole new way. Throughout the weekend, enjoy self-guided tours of the permanent collections and a rich program of guided tours, workshops, and events: the special exhibition “The Passage of Venus,” the “The Museum in 15 Masterpieces” tour, workshops on restoration and mosaics, a tour of the conservation-restoration workshop, tours of the storage areas, and a “MuséoTchatche” discussion focused on mosaics. An introductory bookbinding workshop, offered as a special event by the “Au livre ouvert” workshop in Aubagne, rounds out the program. Practical information and hours: Saturday, September 19, and Sunday, September 20, 2026: - Self-guided tour of the permanent collections: 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. - Guided tour “The Passage of Venus”: 11:00 a.m. Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes. Free, by reservation. - Guided tour “The Museum in 15 Masterpieces”: at 3:00 p.m. Duration: 1 hour and 30 minutes. Free, by reservation. - Family workshop “The Restorer’s Techniques”: at 10:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Duration: 1 hour. Free, by reservation. - From the Construction Site to the Mosaic Conservation and Restoration Workshop: at 2:30 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. Ages 12 and up. Duration: 1 hour. Free, by reservation. - Behind-the-scenes museum tours with experts: at 3:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Open to all ages, ages 8 and up. Duration: 30 min. Free, by reservation. - Family workshop “Mosaic Artist for a Day”: at 10:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. For children ages 8–12 accompanied by an adult. Duration: 1 hour and 30 minutes. Free, by reservation. Saturday, September 19 only: - “MuséoTchatche”: at 5:30 p.m. A gathering and discussion about mosaics. Duration: 1 hour. Sunday, September 20 only: - Bookbinding discovery workshop: from 2:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. (continuous). Ages 14 and up.
