Lev Loiko, a musician of rare sensitivity—principal viola at the Frankfurt Opera, former member of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Karajan Academy of the Berlin Philharmonic, a graduate with honors from several of the world’s most demanding conservatories—performs at the highest level of the international music scene. Trained in Moscow and then in Berlin under the greatest viola masters, he has performed in the world’s most prestigious venues, from the Berlin Philharmonie to the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, including Suntory Hall in Tokyo and the Musikverein in Vienna. Loiko has collaborated with some of the world’s most renowned conductors, including Sir Simon Rattle, Zubin Mehta, Kirill Petrenko, Emmanuelle Haïm, and Tugan Sokhiev. Joining him is German pianist Julius Asal, an exclusive artist with Deutsche Grammophon—a distinction reserved for a very select group of musicians worldwide—who will bring his unique musical vision to the performance. Trained notably by piano legend Sir András Schiff, he has established himself as one of the most acclaimed young pianists of his generation. Praised for the beauty of his playing, his sense of improvisation, and the originality of his interpretations, Asal is regularly invited to major festivals and performs around the world. The newspaper Le Monde highlights his “powerful playing and sonic hedonism,” qualities that today make Asal one of the most distinctive figures on the young international piano scene. Through a program alternating between duets and solo pieces, the two artists will bring their musical sensibilities into dialogue in a concert marked by virtuosity, emotion, and improvisation.
