This summer, as part of the Arelate Festival, the Arles Antique Departmental Museum is offering a varied program open to everyone, combining culture, heritage, cinema, astronomy, and adventure. With guided tours, fascinating talks, and fun activities, enjoy a month of August dedicated to discovery.
- Prelude to the Péplum Film Festival
Saturday, August 15, starting at 6 p.m. – Hortus Garden
Free
Before the Péplum Film Festival kicks off, come enjoy a relaxing time with family or friends in the lush setting of the Hortus Garden. On the program: a relaxation area, games, and an outdoor screening of the famous animated film *Asterix and Cleopatra* (1968) under the stars.

The museum invites you to a special evening exploring the mysteries of the sky. Astrophysicist Jean-Pierre Luminet, emeritus research director at the CNRS and author, will speak with Alain Charron, chief curator and deputy director of the museum. A fascinating discussion exploring the connections between science, the universe, and the imagination.

Discover the museum’s treasures and its permanent collections, which trace the fascinating history of Arles during the Roman era. These tours also offer the chance to explore the temporary exhibition “The Passage of Venus,” which provides a unique perspective on the connections between heritage, art, and astronomy.

With family or friends, take on the challenge of this escape game designed by the museum’s education team. Solve the puzzles of “The Sculptor’s Studio” and immerse yourself in the world of archaeology and artistic creation. Participants also enjoy free access to the museum’s permanent collections.
