Description

Perched on a rocky spur at 766 meters above sea level, discover the history of Sault from the Neolithic era to the present day as you stroll through the village’s walled streets guided by Iza. Then, every Tuesday, meet a lavender grower.
Sault’s unique geographical location has shaped its distinctive history. Nestled in the northeast of the department on the Albion Plateau, the village was spared from invasions and thrived over the centuries thanks to the five-century rule of the d’Agoult family. As you wander through the streets of the walled village, you’ll uncover the remains of the counts’ castle, glimpse the lives of the local Saltésiens, and discover some unusually named alleyways—a true journey through time!
