Description
As part of the Musicales dans les vignes festival, come and enjoy a unique musical encounter combining classical virtuosity and the freedom of jazz.
When the elegance of opera meets the freedom of jazz!
Four soloists from the orchestra of the Opéra National de Paris offer a unique musical encounter combining classical virtuosity and the freedom of jazz. This original project is based on the famous "Suite for cello and jazz trio" by pianist and composer Claude Bolling, an emblematic work that marries classical writing and jazz improvisation with finesse.
Cellist René Benedetti worked on this work directly with Claude Bolling before he recorded it with the legendary Yo-Yo Ma. Following a concert shared with drummer Guy-Joël Cipriani, the idea was born of bringing together several soloists from the Paris Opera Orchestra to create an ensemble capable of bringing together two often-separated musical worlds: the classical tradition and the energy of jazz.
The Jazz Opéra group was thus formed: four exceptional musicians who share the same musical complicity and the same pleasure of performing. Their programme offers an elegant and lively musical journey, alternating moments of virtuosity, inspired improvisations and emblematic works from the repertoire.
