Description
Walk and talk with Mélanie Bienfait: through the remains of ancient installations, modern water catchments and charming Provencal fountains, this tour invites you to discover the essential role played by water in the history of Vaison-la-Romaine.
But where does the water come from that flows in the pretty fountains that can be found in the medieval town? The inhabitants who settled on the rock around the castle of the Counts of Toulouse from the 13th century onwards had to make do at first with cistern wells or water from the Ouvèze river! This walk will explore the importance of water in Vaison's history, through the remains of ancient installations, modern water catchments and pretty Provencal fountains.
Organized as part of the project "Supporting citizen water conservation on Mont-Ventoux", financed by the Agence de l'eau Rhône Méditerranée Corse.
