Description
As part of the Suds festival in Arles, Clémence Gabrielidis presents *Immortelles*, an original vocal work inspired by Sappho, Sotiría Béllou, and the figure of Venus.
In conjunction with the exhibition *Le passage de Vénus* at the Musée départemental Arles antique, the Les Suds festival in Arles presents *Immortelles*, an original work by musician and singer Clémence Gabrielidis.
Carried by a voice with Mediterranean accents, this work creates a dialogue between the poetry of Sappho, a poet of ancient Greece, and that of Sotiría Béllou, an iconic figure of Greek rebetiko and laïkó. Ancient fragments, folk melodies, and contemporary compositions blend together to offer a heartfelt tribute to women, love, freedom, and the power of the feminine.
The evening begins with a Music Salon centered on Sappho & Aphrodite, bringing together Romy Wyche, director of the Arles Antique Departmental Museum and curator of the exhibition *Le passage de Vénus*, and Clémence Gabrielidis. This discussion will explore the connections between cultural heritage, ancient poetry, and contemporary musical creation.
