The two young officers, Ferrando and Guglielmo, bet the cynical Don Alfonso that their fiancées, Fiordiligi and Dorabella, will remain faithful to them. To put them to the test, they pretend to go off to war, then return disguised as strangers, and each tries to seduce the other’s fiancée. What begins as an innocent game quickly turns into turmoil and revelations about the nature of love.
