Description
Ten women artists from the Mediterranean region combine their knowledge and art in an off-the-beaten-track project to make their voices heard.
For the first time in Marseille, Nedjma Hadj Benchelabi, Samaa Wakim and Samira Negrouche bring together on the same stage seven women who embody the richness and vitality of the contemporary Mediterranean and diasporic art scene: Amina Abouelghar (Cairo / Brussels), Eman Hussein (Cairo / Zurich), Imane Elkabli (Marrakech), Nancy Mounir (Cairo), Noor Abed (Ramallah), Rym Hayouni (Tunis / Amsterdam) and Safaa Balouchi (Muscat). In the wake of the film La Nouba des femmes du mont Chenoua by Algerian writer and filmmaker Assia Djebar, one of their tutelary figures, this women's choir weaves a space of freedom around common issues. And it makes memory and fragility a mode of resistance. It's an opportunity for these ten artists to share their practices in an intergenerational, interdisciplinary collective conceived as a constellation, a "family of allies of meaning".
Produced by Festival de Marseille.
Event organized as part of the Saison Méditerranée 2026.
With the support of Onda.
