c__ is a dance piece that brings together the audience, the dancers, children with motor disorders, their caregivers and remote-controlled robots in the same play space....
Making invisible bodies visible, creating links, building shared narratives-this is the ambition of all the projects carried out by Éric Minh Cuong Castaing and his company Shōnen. Together they have been charting a singular course since 2007, whether interacting between human beings and humanoid robots (School of Moon), designing musical and choreographic festivals (Sous Influence) or inventing participatory shows (Tarab, premiered at the Marseille Festival in 2025). c__ holds a special place. Created in 2022 at the Théâtre du Châtelet, it is reinvented locally, with different children, in this case those from the Institut d'éducation motrice Saint-Thys in Marseille. From a distance, guiding telepresence robots, other performers with physical disabilities join the performers on stage. A precious alchemy is created between the performers, in turn prostheses, slides or living merry-go-rounds for the children, the robots that push, pull, accompany and take care of the so-called impeded bodies, and the audience, totally invested by their gaze and presence.
