Description
Join Reneissenço for a presentation of Arles costume.
Our Reneissenço association for Provençal culture was founded in 1980, and is chaired by Frédérique Fernay. This year, we're presenting Arlésienne Fashion, a work of research and analysis based around workshops on the specific periods of 1880-1885-1889.
Young girls, young women with a passion for fashion, guided by our elders, present the results of their work. You'll have the pleasure of admiring the evolution of femininity. The ever-coquettish Arlesienne has made no restrictions, with sleeves bursting at the seams with lace, braid and trimmings, with bubbled or gathered effects. Skirts became straighter, and were called "dresses à tournures" or by a much less poetic name
"faux cul" dresses. And hairstyles, all in harmony around the face.
Madame Ginoux is said to have been painted by Vincent Van Gogh, l'arlésienne au long ruban. The handlebars float freely over the shoulder or down the back.
