Description
Hike at your own pace from Seyne-les-Alpes or Montclar to reach Fort de Dormillouse, at an altitude of 2,505 metres. From the summit, enjoy breathtaking views over the Blanche, Serre-Ponçon, and Ubaye valleys.
From Montclar Resort
Meeting point at 10:00 a.m. at the base of the Belvédère chairlift.
Take the Belvédère chairlift, then follow the "military trail".
Elevation gain: 600 m | Distance: 4 km | Walking time: approximately 2 hours.
A steady ascent along a series of well-built switchbacks supported by retaining walls.
From Seyne-les-Alpes
Meeting point at 8:30 a.m. at the Col Bas parking area, where a caravan of mules and horses will accompany participants.
Elevation gain: 600 m | Distance: 6 km | Walking time: approximately 2 hours.
By car, take the road towards Saint-Pons. At the entrance to the hamlet of Saint-Pons, turn left onto the road leading to the Bellevue forest lodge. Continue on the paved road, which becomes a drivable track after approximately 2 km. Follow it to the large Col Bas parking area at an altitude of 1,912 m.
Start of the hike: follow the marked trail to Dormillouse, which uses the former military road, remarkably well engineered.
Optional circular route: from Dormillouse, descend towards Lac Noir (Black Lake), then continue back to Col Bas.
At Fort de Dormillouse
Gather at Fort de Dormillouse at 11:30 a.m. for the flag-raising ceremony.
