Serre Chevalier Nature organises the Botanical Days: workshops, talks, exhibitions and walks to explore alpine flora.
Every year, the Serre Chevalier Nature Association organises the “Serre Chevalier Botany Days”, with the aim of offering a programme packed with workshops, talks and botanical walks.
On the programme:
Friday 17 July
• 9.00–11.00: Botanical walk along the Sentier des Crevasses trail at the Col du Lautaret and Le Bez
• 11.00–12.00: workshop on observing plants through a magnifying glass
• 11.00–12.30: demonstration and talk on basket weaving
• 13.00–17.00: creative workshop for children
• 2.30 pm–4.30 pm: Sketching workshop using Chinese brushes
• 5 pm: Lecture by Alain Roques, Research Director at INRAE: ‘The larch leaf roller’
Saturday 18 July
• 9.00 am–11.00 am: botanical walk at Le Casset
• 9.00 am–11.00 am: botanical walk at Le Galibier with Rolland Douzet, botanist at the Lautaret Garden (for experienced amateurs)
• 11.00–12.30: Creative workshop: making a flower from wicker
• 13.00–17.00: Creative workshop for children
• 14.00–15.00: Workshop on observing plants through a magnifying glass
• 3.00–4.30 pm: How to use a plant identification guide
• 5.00 pm: Talk by Manon Paul-Traversaz, PhD in Pharmacy: “Medicinal plants of our mountain pastures”
11.00 am–5.00 pm Stalls:
Soaps from the Serre Chevalier chalet – Book stall – “La Garance Voyageuse” association – La Flibustine and her bouquets – Adventices collective – Herbal teas – Foraging baskets – Chanvr’ailes
Sunday 19 July
• 9.00 am–11.00 am: botanical walk to Les Guibertes and Le Casset
• 11.00 am–12.00 pm: plant observation workshop using a magnifying glass
• 11.00–12.30: chat with Annie and Julien about unusual photographs
• 14.30–16.30: sketching workshop using Chinese brushes
• 16.30: children’s competition prize-giving
• 3.00 pm–4.30 pm: guided tour of the exhibition, organised by habitat
• 5.00 pm: Talk by Aline Mercan, doctor and ethnobotanist, “The Ethnobotany of the Guisane”, followed by a book signing.

Photo exhibition by the CBNA: “Seeds on a grand scale”
