Description
On the ruins, the stones bloom, offers us a plunge into the desert
With Sur les ruines, les pierres fleurissent, Abdessamad El Montassir plunges us into the desert and its silent narratives, which he sees as an archipelagic whole, traversed by human and non-human presences, buried memories and disjointed temporalities. A living territory where plants, trees, mountains, sand and wind in turn become active witnesses, capable of preserving and transmitting what History-One leaves in the shadows.
Originally from the Sahara in southern Morocco, Abdessamad El Montassir is developing a practice at the crossroads of art and research, in which the landscape is never a passive entity, but an actor in its own right. His projects are rooted in a focus on what escapes the spoken word: that of humans who are unable, unwilling or unable to bear witness, and that of non-human entities who express themselves in temporalities that escape us.
Event organized as part of the Saison Méditerranée 2026, in co-production with Friche la Belle de Mai and in partnership with Kulte (Rabat) and Cirva (Marseille).
