Take part in the ‘Les Nuits des Étoiles’ event in Aureille and witness the solar eclipse!
The commune of Aureille is renewing its partnership with the French Astronomy Association and is once again taking part in the national event ‘Les Nuits des étoiles’.
This is an opportunity to (re)discover the summer sky and the stars, and to observe an exceptional solar eclipse.
- Saturday 8 August -
5.00 pm – Salle de la Grand Terre: children’s workshop (ages 7–12)
Exploring the Solar System and celestial objects, observing the Sun (specialised glasses provided)
8.30 pm – Salle de la Grand Terre: talk
“Understanding the celestial objects visible in the sky above Aureille” with Patrick Stantina, a local resident and experienced astronomer
10 pm - Municipal Stadium: evening gathering and stargazing (please bring a head torch, a light jacket, a blanket or a throw)
- Wednesday 12 August -
6.00 pm - Venue to be confirmed upon registration: solar eclipse
Observation of the Sun using special opaque glasses (provided by the local council) and an explanation of the phenomenon of solar eclipses
Registration required at the town hall
