Description
The Trobaïritz, women troubadours of the Pays d'Oc, are the guardians of an intangible cultural heritage at the source of today's music.
Inspired by this heritage, the singers of the Aïgal ensemble decided to delve into and pass on this cultural and musical heritage of ancient times, when women were as influential and important as the male Troubadours.
Stories pass, are lost, are found again, are modified, and are expressed in the form of a cycle, perpetual and regenerative. This cycle is reflected in the musical writing, through the words and rhythmic and melodic motifs that turn and repeat. On stage, six trobairitz tell their stories with their own singularity: each delivers her own personality, particularly in the pieces written for 6 voices. But their views of the world also meet in a single voice (voie...), through plainchant and unison.
Ensemble vocal Aïgal is dedicated to showcasing the diversity of the a cappella repertoire, in concerts and performances accessible to all. Founded in Bordeaux in 2017 by two sopranos and four mezzos, and winner of the Léopold Bellan Competition, Ensemble Aïgal, which borrows its name from a South-West wind, champions a wide repertoire, both in terms of eras and geographies. The two shows created by the six women reflect their commitment to bringing a cappella music to a variety of audiences, with a focus on cultural mediation.
