Description
The day without wind is the day of Iphigenia's sacrifice by her father Agamemnon. From the Trojan War to the courts of Athens, The Oresteia depicts humanity at its worst and its best.
She tells us how the establishment of justice and democracy makes it possible to overcome the infernal cycle of vengeance and pacify society. Peace, yes, but at what price? For beyond the stories of Agamemnon, Orestes and Clytemnestra, this tragedy highlights a paradox: that of women sacrificed, silenced and eliminated so that peace can be established among men.
Inspired by Aeschylus' tragedy, Céleste Germe, Maëlys Ricordeau and the Das Plateau company bring together the dilemmas of yesterday with those of today in a dazzling show. The incandescent writing of poet Milène Tournier dialogues with that of Aeschylus to probe this founding myth, which forcefully questions the relations of power and domination structuring our intimate, social and political organizations.
A funeral dirge and a searing look at the world, Un Jour sans vent (A Day Without Wind) stands out as total theater, where the plastic and musical dimensions are as important as the text and the actors, revealing the infinite delicacy and tragedy of humanity.
With Aurelia Nova Gschwind, Antoine Oppenheim, Maëlys Ricordeau.
