Description

An invitation from Lieux Publics to take over the Grand Port de Marseille as part of the week-long launch of the Saison Méditerranée 2026.
A free, open-air evening to gather in front of the Mediterranean Sea: the Grand Port Maritime de Marseille is exceptionally opening its doors, and Lieux Publics is offering a large-scale finale: the sirens of Mécanique Vivante accompanied by over 200 Marseillais gathered by Campus art Méditerranée, an XXL version of Tarab, the dancefloor choreography of the Shōnen company with Wael Koudaih, aka Rayess Bek, at the turntables, and Mediterranean culinary proposals by chefs from Marseilles coordinated by Grandes Tables. Doors open at 6pm. All evening: Mediterranean cuisine A proposal by I.C.I - Les Grandes Tables For this exceptional evening, the Grand Port Maritime is the ideal setting for culinary exchanges between the cuisines of Lebanon, Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco and Marseille! Aboard the Carrioles de la Méditerranée, ten brigades from Marseille's culinary scene will be serving up a variety of dishes combining traditional flavors with contemporary creations, starting at 6pm: méchouïa slata and anchovy fritters, chich taouk, falafels, koshari, pastilla-style chicken-almond cigars, sardines stuffed with brousse, panisses from Estaque, South Shore pastries, orange blossom-, pistachio- and baklawa-flavored Lebanese ice creams... An immersive experience in the popular and convivial cuisines of Mediterranean streets. On the quenching side, bars will offer a selection of locally brewed artisanal beverages and juices made by Les Grandes Tables, designed to accompany this multi-faceted culinary program. Culinary cooperation produced by I.C.I with La Cuisine de l'Arc, Sofrati, Les grandes Tables, La boîte à sardines, Le Monticole Culinaire, L'après M, Souhila Mokfi - Fée des gourmands, Tabla, Hamov artisan glacier, En Chantier, Aux fourneaux de Ryma... From 9pm: Symphonie portuaire by Mécanique Vivante & Campus art Méditerranée. Under the artistic direction of Raphaël Imbert and Franz Clochard The Symphonie portuaire is a call from the sea, an ode to the sea and to encounters, a siren song that invites us to celebrate a plural Mediterranean together. Drawing on repertoires nourished by oral traditions and contemporary creolizations, the work - free, festive and polyglot - brings cultures and imaginations into dialogue. From the winds of Sicily to Tunis, from Kabylia to Andalusia, from Turkey to the Camargue, via the Atlas mountains and the Greek islands, the musical journey unfolds as far as the open sea. This tableau is set in a spectacular, moving scenography that immerses the audience in the very heart of the show. The various musical forces interact and respond to each other in a play of echoes: an intergenerational brass band, the polyphonic orchestra of the Sirènes musicales from the Mécanique Vivante company, solo musicians, singers with giant bells, and unusual percussionists. The result is a new, spellbinding sound that unfolds and resonates freely in the open air. 11pm: Tarab by Compagnie Shōnen (FR), Rayess Bek (LEBANON/ PALESTINE), with eight dancers from Egypt, Palestine and Lebanon. An XXL version of Tarab, the choreographic and participatory celebration by Compagnie Shōnen with composer Rayess Bek and dancers from Egypt, Lebanon and Palestine, and Mediterranean culinary proposals by chefs from Marseilles coordinated by Grandes Tables. Tarab is a celebration performed by Palestinian-born Lebanese musician Rayess Bek and dancers from Egypt, Palestine and Lebanon. Driven by social dances (such as dabkeh and taa'kib) and accompanied by dancers with a sense of complicity, they will gradually sweep audiences away, enrapt by their dances blending traditional and contemporary gestures, to give free rein to sensations, experiences and emotions in a vast collective momentum.
