Description
Opera sung in French with French surtitles. Musical direction Victorien Vanoosten, stage direction James Bonas.
Opening act: Igor Stravinsky Petrouchka (1947 version)
With the Toulon Opera Orchestra and Chorus.
Is it the emotion of lost childhood, with its large vacation homes and gardens populated by noctuid moths and sad birds? Is it the "green paradise of childish love", with a flaxen-haired princess and her prince with a crest of dawn? Only compassion and love can free us from our solitude in the midst of nature.
Ravel shared with Stravinsky the genius of being able to return to childhood at will, which makes the trials and tribulations of the puppet Petrouchka, victim of wickedness and injustice, all the more poignant.
