Ze place to be

‘Ze place to be’ is the exhibition marking the start of the new season, centred on the work of Mister Zozo. Having been on display all summer at the Halle Saint-Pierre bookshop – a mecca for unique art in Paris – the artist is now heading to Provence for an exhibition running from 2 to 30 September at La Galerie Miniature. In a previous life, Mister Zozo was an actor and circus performer before turning his hand to the visual arts. A self-taught multidisciplinary artist (drawings, photomontages, ceramics…), his practice – characterised by black humour and burlesque comedy – gives rise to a host of characters who attempt, as best they can, to mask the excesses of our society. His work has been exhibited in numerous countries, and he regularly contributes to the French press (Le Monde, Télérama, Libération, La Croix, Philosophie magazine, Causette, etc.). ‘Ze place to be’ will bring together some of this summer’s artists – Nicole Pelegrin, Ma, Fleur de Mamoot, Jean-Michel Botsen, Catherine Alcantara, Guillaume Nicolaou, Didier Gianella, Emmanuelle de Rosa – who will be joined by Jean-Pierre Sougy, Anakalypsis, Féfé, Valérie Prats and the duo Fermet & Faton. And as always, the collection of graphic newspapers from the Rencontres du 9e art, collector’s items from the Finnish fanzine Kuti, audio curiosities from the Cœur sur toi label and glittery stickers from Popoche! Join us for a ‘quasi-opening’ on Friday 4 September, attended by Mister Zozo, Féfé, Didier Gianella and Emmanuelle de Rosa. The Galerie Miniature, a community-run, alternative art gallery housed in a former newsagent’s kiosk on Place Bellegarde in Aix-en-Provence.
