Aiguilles ski resort:

fun activities, skiing and mountain magic in Queyras

Nestling in the Southern Alps, at the heart of the sometimes-snowy and sometimes-verdant landscapes of the Hautes-Alpes, Aiguilles is a family-style ski resort in the Queyras area perched at a height of 1,450 metres, offering all the charm of a genuine old mountain village. Its remarkable architecture, completely different from that of other ski resorts, promises to astonish. In winter, the domain offers a vast palette of snow sports including must-do snowshoeing and skiing, together with a fun park, natural skating rink and very impressive ice waterfall! In summer, the classic “hiking & cycling” duo attracts many enthusiasts, as does the tubing park, bike park and heated pool. And if you listen carefully, you can almost hear the first peals of laughter ringing out as the resort’s packed festivities programme gets under way…

Skiing, snow and winter sports: Aiguilles winter programme

With its domain rising to a height of 1,610 metres, Aiguilles promises to seduce families keen to introduce both small and large kids to the joys of skiing. The resort is kitted out with 3 ski lifts leading up to the beginners’ Downhill Skiing Space, where you can enjoy gliding gently down the slopes with tiny tots, or admire their progress from the sidelines. The domain features: 2 green slopes, 3 blue slopes, 1 red slope.
Perfect for mastering the basics! And if you want to have fun while testing your limits, the resort also offers a mini timed speed ski run, together with a parallel slalom, dual slalom and boardercross / snowpark for beginners. And because kids never run out of energy, you can also treat them to a toboggan run, 130m² airbag jump or family trip to the natural skating rink for guaranteed fun and hilarity. Sporty and inquisitive parents will appreciate the “Mountain and Safety” space comprising an educational cross-country course and AVD (Avalanche Victim Detector) park: a unique area where you can explore the mountains like a pro in all safety. Aiguilles in summer: mountain activities galore

Outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy holidaying at their own pace at Aiguilles. If your legs are already itching to go, head out onto the hiking trails of the Queyras mountains leading to high summits gazing out over the entire Hautes-Alpes area, with Mont Blanc as your backdrop. On the way, stop off for a picnic near a crystal-clear mountain lake: this XXL decor also overflows with charming little mountain chalets built in wood and stone. You can also choose from a range of leisure activities at the resort itself, including a tubing park, bike park and heated pool. Aiguilles is a dynamic village and summer heralds a packed programme of festivities including a book festival, arts festival, various workshops, nature walks, markets, car boot sales and pool evenings… You definitely won’t have time to get bored!

Entertainment in every season

As you stroll through the village, you’ll love the unique atmosphere and large bourgeois homes rubbing shoulders with more traditional mountain chalets – a particularity that has earned the resort its nickname “the American village”. The locals will be delighted to fill you in on the history of these astonishing constructions. You’ll also come across another curiosity in the shape of Maison Duclos: an iron structure built by an engineer of the same name and contemporary of Gustave Eiffel. But Aiguilles is redolent with a mountain mood too, as reflected in many the gorgeous traditional sundials adorning its walls. Take the little lanes leading up to Eglise Saint-Jean-Baptiste and try to spot the 4 chapels of Aiguilles. Remember to take a few snack along to enjoy while you lap up the view: “tourtons” stuffed with potato or raspberry, typical mountain pastries and sandwiches crammed with local produce – the perfect way to savour the moment! Whether you’re a fan of history, fine arts or natural sciences, the priceless heritage of the Hautes-Alpes promises an enriching and varied cultural experience, plus museums for every taste .
