We invite you to discover the most beautiful beaches in Hyères, from the peninsula of Giens to the Golden Islands, and to take advantage of the numerous animations and nautical activities.
The most beautiful beaches in Hyères
The Almanarre beach
The Almanarre beach, 5 kilometers long, is a famous spot for windsurfing and kitesurfing lovers. It slopes gently into the sea, which allows young swimmers to have a long walk. The Almanarre, with its seasonally supervised areas, attracts many families. Some establishments offer mattress rentals. Disabled persons benefit from equipment adapted for people with reduced mobility, hearing or motor impairments. A few meters away, on the other side of the salt road, the old salt marshes are home to many species of birds.
To the north of the Almanarre, about 800 meters from the tombolo, the beach of Port Helene awaits you. Parking is sometimes difficult during the season, so it is not very busy even in the middle of summer.
The beach of La Capte
4 kilometers long, this beautiful beach of Hyères-les-Palmiers stretches along the eastern tombolo, a cord that connects the peninsula of Giens to the mainland. Well sheltered from the Mistral wind, it owes its name to La Capte, a tourist hamlet with a marina, shops and restaurants. Rather crowded in summer, it is also very popular in the off-season for its wild character: it is a great place for picnics in spring and autumn.
La Capte is extended southward by the Bergerie beach, which is adapted for people with disabilities. A first-aid post ensures its surveillance during the season, and renters offer mattresses and parasols.
Towards the north, the beaches of Pesquiers, Bona and La Potinière follow one another up to the marinas which welcome connections to the Golden Islands (le Levant, Port-Cros, Porquerolles…).
The peninsula of Giens
This remarkable natural area faces the Golden Islands and is home to many places suitable for swimming. We invite you to discover a selection of the most beautiful beaches in the peninsula.
L’Anse du Four à Chaux seduces tourists with its turquoise waters and its privileged location, sheltered from the winds. It offers a beautiful view of the nearby seaside resort of Carqueiranne. A vast wooded area next to this cove offers a pleasant shade.
The Vignette beach has been entirely fitted out to meet the expectations of disabled people. The association “un fauteuil à la mer” (“a chair at the sea”), with equipment adapted to different disabilities: an audio-plane system for visually impaired people, lifting and transfer devices for people with heavy motor disabilities, an access ramp… Showers, toilets and cabins adapted for people with reduced mobility are also available.
La Madrague, Le Pradeau, le Bouvet, l’Ecueil du Gabian, la Bauma, l’Estanci, la Badine… All around the peninsula, many places welcome swimmers and vacationers looking for a place to bask in the sun, as well as lovers of nautical activities.
From the Tombolo to the old salt marshes
To the east of the peninsula, the Hyères coastline offers a remarkable panorama of the islands.
Le Ceinturon, with its fine sand and pebbles, offers quality water. Supervised in season, this beach is suitable for families.
L’Ayguade has the necessary facilities to accommodate people with disabilities: motor, mental and hearing impairments.
Finally, Les Salins beach is also adapted to disabled people. Part of this beautiful beach in Hyères is naturist.
Water activities
Numerous activities are proposed, during the summer or all year round, for the great pleasure of children and adults alike. You can for example initiate yourself to paddle, and thus take a walk on the sea with family or friends… Do you want to enjoy a full vacation? It is also possible to enjoy a lot of thrills: renting a jet-ski, towed buoy, wakeboard, kitesurf, windsurf, parasailing, flyfish… Scuba diving allows you to discover the Posidonia meadows and the sometimes endemic fauna of the Mediterranean coast. Several waterfont straw huts allow you to have lunch or dinner, facing the sea.
