La Seyne-sur-Mer

Tourism and travel guide

A charming seaside resort on the French Riviera, La Seyne-sur-Mer has a rich historical past that still contributes to its charm and authenticity today.

From the town’s military past remain impressive fortifications that still dominate the town, such as Fort Balaguier and Fort Napoleon. On the seaside, the Tamaris district with its 70 villas that combine classical and oriental styles, its hotel, its two casinos, its gardens, also bears witness to the city’s early tourist past, which already attracted rich vacationers wishing to stay on the French Riviera at the end of the 19th century.

Nature is still very present in this town, which has managed to preserve a village soul. The Corniche Merveilleuse leads up to the top of the Cap Sicié massif, where a breathtaking panorama of the coast and the offshore islands awaits you. The paths and trails in and around La Seyne-sur-Mer are particularly suitable for hiking and cycling. Don’t miss the Janas Forest, where the pine trees provide welcome shade. You will also find an adventure trail in the trees nearby.

The summer agenda also offers many attractions for vacationers. Every year, Bayamo, the Cuban music festival, brings an extra touch of warmth and friendliness to an already sunny destination.

Provence is also synonymous with terroir and gastronomy. The markets are an opportunity to discover local products: olives, spices, herbs of Provence, fish caught during the day, wines (to be tasted in moderation)…

Beaches and islands of the French Riviera

The seaside resort of La Seyne-sur-Mer, in the bay of Toulon, is renowned for the quality of its beaches. From the beach of Les Sablettes, the largest in La Seyne, you can admire the famous rock of the « Deux Frères ».

You can also indulge in scuba diving or snorkelling, discover the magnificent seabed, take to the open sea on a sea excursion, shiver with pleasure as you discover the thrills offered by towed buoys or jet-skiing, prefer the slower pace of a water trip in a kayak or at the controls of a paddle… You can also devote a day to discovering Les Embiez, or observe the warships that anchor in Toulon.
