You can observe birds such as the Leach’s gull, the Mediterranean shearwater and the booted eagle. The island of Porquerolles is also home to an exceptional fauna and flora, and since 1971 has housed the Mediterranean National Botanical Conservatory. The Parc de Port-Cros protects the Golden Islands, but also an exceptional coastal fringe. Finally, the Ile du Levant, the easternmost of the Golden Islands, is home to the reserve of arbutus trees.
