Oyster bar - Le Comptoir marin

Located on the pretty Place Carnot opposite the listed St Jean church in La Valette du Var, our bar seats 30 inside and 40 outside. With us, it's a family affair, since our first cousins, our exclusive suppliers of oysters, are oyster farmers on the Etang de Thau. Our weekly delivery of shellfish is accompanied by products made in a traditional tiellerie and cannery in Sète. In the kitchen, Brigitte, the manager, at the bar, Dimitri, the eldest of the family. Mickaël, a professional chef, assists the team with his sound advice and extensive experience. He's like our very own Etchebest, but without the nightmare in the kitchen! Finally, our youngest daughter, Emilie, our community manager, who manages our social networks and communications from her home near Paris. You can also enjoy shrimps, tielles, seafood spreads (anchoïades, brandade, rillettes de rascasse or de rouget), earthy spreads (tomatine, olivade) and an excellent cheese platter. The bread comes from the neighboring baker, the dessert from the Italian delicatessen next to the bar, and the vegetables and cheeses from the shops opposite. With the exception of Picpoul de Pinet, linked to the Etang de Thau, all our wines and beers are from the Var. Conviviality is the order of the day, with long "halles couvertes"-type tables and service at the counter, but intimacy is also present, with low or high tables for two or 4 people. Last but not least, you'll be immersed in the world of the sea, thanks to a decor designed by the owner and created by her husband. As the seasons go by, the menu features hot oysters, fish soups and seafood kebabs. On Friday lunchtimes, our slate features a hot dish and, as the weeks go by, ephemeral tapas. A concert is organized every first Friday of the month, and karaoke on the last Saturday. Sporting events are broadcast on an off-air basis, so as to respect the epicureans and bon vivants who want a little peace and quiet in this world of brutes. Reservations by telephone only
