The Biennale Internationale des Arts du Cirque and the Entre2 BIAC are the 2 flagship events supported by Archaos.
Supported by the institutions and in partnership with the cultural structures of the Aix-Marseille Provence Metropolis and the Southern Region, the Biennale Internationale des Arts du Cirque and Entre2 BIAC have become, in less than 10 years, must-see events for audiences and professionals alike, highlighting the breadth and diversity of contemporary circus creation.
To maintain the link with the public and support a strong circus presence each year, Archaos created the Entre2 BIAC in 2016. This festival takes place on even-numbered years, also in the heart of winter, between January and February, in conjunction with our partners in the Aix Marseille Métropole region.
A more intimate festival, but just as ambitious, Entre2 BIAC is an opportunity for Archaos to develop programming in its own venue. During this event, the spotlight is on artistic and cultural education initiatives, through performances, workshops linked to the shows programmed, and dedicated sessions for schoolchildren. These are just some of the highlights that bring the site to life, while revealing to the public the diversity and scope of our initiatives.
Founded over thirty years ago, and accredited as a Pôle National Cirque since 2012, Archaos contributes to the development of contemporary circus. Its ambition is to establish this discipline as one of the most innovative in recent decades.
Throughout the year, in support of creation, Archaos welcomes in residence and co-produces numerous companies, the majority of which are programmed at the Biennale Internationale des Arts du Cirque (BIAC) or at the Entre2 BIAC. Archaos also supports contemporary circus professionals by offering continuing education courses, individualized support and a training space available on a daily basis. Internationally, Archaos promotes the mobility and visibility of companies by organizing meetings with international programmers.
On its site, and more widely in the South of France, Archaos encourages encounters between artists and the public through a rich program of festivals, Circus Rendezvous, amateur practice workshops and artistic and cultural education actions carried out with several partners (National Education, social structures, associations and medico-social organizations).
