As iconic landmarks of the last century, deeply rooted in our cultural heritage, wash houses were gradually abandoned from the 1960s onwards.
With them disappeared the washerwomen, the women who once ruled these places.
Yet their spirits still live on in the wash houses that have withstood the passage of time, through the legends they left behind, as well as the texts, songs and paintings they inspired in so many artists.
Our contemporary dance piece draws inspiration from these stories and incorporates songs and texts from the French tradition, reimagined in a contemporary style. It is performed by two dancer-singers and an actress.
