The first cycle of a two-part exhibition, the collection of watercolors held by the Musée d'Art de Toulon bears witness to the richness of Toulon's botanical garden, the successor to the Jardin de la Marine. Opening on December 13 at 6pm.

Created from life by volunteer draftsmen between 1794 and 1827, these watercolors offer an invaluable insight into the diversity of the garden, where species from all five continents were cultivated. Each drawing presents the plant as a whole, as well as precise details of its anatomy, such as seeds, petals, flowers and shells.... Each illustration is also accompanied by notes detailing the plant's characteristics, origin, cultivation and flowering.

Vincent Courdouan's "Vue de la rade de Toulon" (View of the Toulon roadstead) will be presented as part of this exhibition. This acquisition is the second major initiative undertaken this year by the City of Toulon to enrich its collections, following the "Aquarelles en fleurs" acquired at an auction organized by Sotheby's France.
