The series presents an overview of the complex links between the city, its inhabitants and natural spaces between 2021 and 2023, around the La Caravelle stream, more commonly known as the Aygalades;
This 17-kilometre-long watercourse runs through the northern districts of Marseille.
Industrial use, urbanization and human activity have gradually channelled the water, rendering the banks invisible and upsetting the ecological balance of the creek.
Its physical disappearance, its oblivion in the collective imagination and relentless urban development have not improved the environmental conditions of the watercourse.
By examining and recording the material and memorial imprints left by the creek, we can gain a better understanding of the relationship between local residents and their territory.
A publication accompanies the exhibition. Edition Charbon.
